today we had a little fun taking some pictures in this beautiful weather. jack and joshua enjoyed some much needed playing time at the park. i really just ran around like crazy trying to make you laugh, while aunt dana captured the best of you! oh how fast this first birthday is coming!

what a joy she is to us all! today we celebrated her birthday cowgirl style!
there were lots of tiny outlaws and some really cute ponies that the kids got to take home!
then there were the pony races with babies in tow….
we asked jack what his favorite part of the party was… he said he liked watching sienna open all her presents. you two are something else. i find it funny when i ask to take your picture, jack, you run away. but when i ask you to put your arm around sienna for a picture oh no worries!
it was such a fun day! thank you for once again letting us be apart of it!
and never forget sweet girl, your birthday isn’t just your birthday! it’s also your parents anniversary!

the dewberry farm that is…
last year was the first year for us to tag along with cousins for a day at the farm. it is so crazy to think how much can change in a year. a new little buddy gave us an extra pumpkin to bring home and more smiles to capture. this year we were pleasantly surprised by seeing other familiar faces and friends that joined us in the great october heat. oh my is it hot here. good news is there is suppose to be a cool front coming sometime this week.
sienna and her cousin mason were a few of the friends that joined us for the day. her little brother jude stayed asleep for most of the day. what a trooper! this was a lot of ground for a little two month old to cover.
jack, i have said this a lot today, but i really think you are at the right age this year for this trip. i was comparing it to last year ( you at just two years old) and wow how a year changes a little boy like you. you were so excited about everything we did! you really took it all in. most of the time when something makes you want to really smile you try to hold it in. today you let all the sillies out. i loved it! you thought it was a hoot that people were walking over the “choo choo tracks” to get to their destination. i captured it just as you were saying…
“those people can’t walk on the choo choo tracks! that’s crazy!”
the up close sweaty, dirty, we’re trying every hold possible, baby face 🙂

one of my favorite parts of the day… i noticed you, jack, and sienna go and sit down on a bench by yourself…
you two are something else. i love how we get to watch you grow up together and document it in pictures. right now we think you are both getting so big but i know just like looking back at other old pictures we will look back and say ” you two were just babies!” it just makes me want to squeeze each of you in this picture.
call me partial …but i picked my favorite two pumpkins out of the patch to bring home.

(a special thanks to joey for chasing down jack in the corn maze, bailey for holding samuel while i needed to grab the camera or while i wanted to play myself 😉 and dana for finding my car keys before we left. i don’t think we would have survived without you!)
jack, since you started talking you always admired your cousin joey. you would watch him ride on the little four wheeler at granny and gramps house. he would give joshua and you rides all the time. you loved it. somewhere in the obsession with joey and four wheelers, you knew joey rode on it. so to you the four wheeler became the “joey.” because you called it a “joey” we all started calling it “the joey.” the other weekend joshua got an early birthday gift. what he calls a “joe” because it is bigger than your “joey.” 🙂 last weekend after your cousin joey’s football game, we took you boys out to ride on your “joeys.”

the past few weeks it has become more and more clear. you guys are inseparable. it’s getting a little easier to see your love in pictures. jack nearly puts you in a head lock samuel. oh the relationship between you guys. jack always wants me to wake you up. “mama go wake sam up!” “mama i hear sam sam!” as soon as i peak in your room samuel, jack is following closely behind to yell in excitement “sam sam!” “sam sam you are awake!” there is nothing like siblings. every night we pray that you remain close to one another and to jesus. there is nothing that would make us happier.

it seems like every time i sit down to write up an update, when i type in your new age… i just squeal! how are we already here? oh sweet boy there is no other word to describe you besides joy! pure joy to be exact. at e l e v e n months you sleep through the night and have started to split up your one long afternoon nap into two. you are still fairly easy to lay down. we wind up your mobile and you cuddle up with a blanket and you are happy to go to sleep by yourself. such a big boy!
you are standing more and more but so far we have seen only 2 attempts at a step forward. you crawl really fast. you often raise both hands up and almost leap forward to get a head start. you love to dance to jack’s favorite songs. it gets us all giggling to see you recognize them.
you l o v e to eat. many times it looks like i haven’t fed you all day because you will eat it up so fast. when you see something you want you give a very serious “hum!” almost as if you are telling me “yes mama that right there! i’m ready for it!” you l o v e when daddy comes home, it makes his day when you go charging towards him and lay your head on his shoulder. you are such a lover. we are so excited about your first birthday party. jack especially. we don’t know what we would do with out you sweet boy. happy 1 1 months samuel!

last sunday we took a rather rainy drive out to burnet, texas to surprise the boys with “a day out with thomas.” when we got into town, we grabbed the much loved whataburger and told jack we were going to have a picnic.
the weather couldn’t have been more perfect for one. the sky’s cleared and it was a sunny and 75 degrees kind of day. jack was really excited when he saw where we were going to spend our day. he knows how to hold his smile in. the day involved seeing the “real” thomas the train, picture taking opportunities, coloring, temporary tattoos (which we all got but samuel… he just didn’t have time for that) play train sets galore, a r e a l train ride and of course the best soundtrack of thomas the train sing alongs playing the whole time.
we debated if the drive was worth it or not. we decided it was so worth it. we prefer small town crowds. the boys really did enjoy the day and we enjoyed a little get away with just us as a family. the weather couldn’t have been more perfect and the drive home was made complete with a yummy bbq stop.
who knows what other crazy trips we might take just to get away with you two little guys.

what a special third birthday you had. we started the morning off with a surprise birthday balloon, breakfast and a gift. i could tell you were really going to enjoy this day. we then went to mass for your birthday. you took your new cars but understood you weren’t suppose to be “too loud” with them. you behaved so well and after you belted out the alleluia, i decided in my head you could be as loud as you wanted with those cars because that singing of yours made my day. after mass father orrin gave you a birthday blessing. you told him all you wanted for your birthday was chocolate cake. oh how i adore you sweet little man.
sam was pretty excited about your birthday treats too.
that afternoon we headed out to meet daddy for lunch. we picked him up downtown and drove around to find you a chic-fil-a. after we finally located a good one you exclaimed from the back seat that you wanted whataburger. oh boy. you were a hoot to listen to when people would call you to wish you a happy birthday. you would proudly say “hewo” “thanks” and “i yuv you, bye!” no shyness today, that’s for sure!
for being spoiled all day, you were really so good! you fell asleep on your own at about 6:30 and did not budge. we were so sad because we really wanted you to blow out candles again. the next morning i told you, well you are officially t h r e e ! you were so sad when you realized it wasn’t your birthday anymore. you asked “what got my birthday over?!” i responded with well, you fell asleep and its a whole new day. you said “well then my birthday can be tomorrow?!” oh we love you sweet boy. thanks for giving us the best three years as parents. you are such a joy!

oh sweet boy, what fun it was to spoil you with a birthday party the weekend before your birthday. you had a blast. i think you finally grasp what birthday parties are all about. we could barely grab you for pictures you were in your glory. we enjoyed pizza galore and so many sweets. it was a good ol’ fashion back yard party. the weather turned out beautiful!
you save the best smiles for last. silly boy. must have been quite the sugar high 🙂
